Three 70,800dwt self-unloading bulk carriers, M/V SHELLA ANN, SOPHIE OLDENDORFT and CSL SPIRIT were constructed by Jiangnan Shipyard (Group)Co., Ltd. and delivered to CANADA STEAMSHIP LINES and EGON OLDENDORFF respectively in December of 1999, November of 2000 and March of 2001. The basic design was developed by Jiangnan Shipyard itself in cooperation with SDARI.

Features

1.The vessel is a single-screw, diesel-driven self-unloading bulk carrier suitable for carrying dry bulk cargo such as grain, coal, iron ore, salt, potash, bauxite, crushed stone, gypsum and phosphate rock.

2.Seven (7) holds with double-skin are designed for carrying cargoes. The hold bottom is W-shaped, forming slopping hoppers above the two hold conveyors.

3. The self unloading system consists of six conveyors, including longitudinal & transverse conveyors at port & starboard side respectively, as well as inclined and boom conveyors.

4. Cargo is gravity fed form the holds through hydraulic gate (CFG, Controllable Flow Gate) and onto the inclined conveyor and finally to the boom to be discharged outboard.

5. The long-stroke, low-revolution and fuel-efficient main engine 6S60MC drives a fixed-pitch propeller for propulsion.

6. A controllable-pitch-propeller-type bow thruster (1,325kW) is provided for improvement in maneuverability.
