On April 30th, 2007, a 300,000ton Floating Production Storage and Offloading（FPSO） vessel, the biggest and the most advanced FPSO in the Chinese shipbuilding industry, had been delivered its hull in Shanghai Waigaoqiao shipyard, thus, opened up a new page for the Chinese offshore engineering. 300,000ton is so far the highest FPSO manufacture capability in the world, and therefore, both the design and the manufacturing of this giant vessel had gained a seat for the Chinese shipbuilding in the world. This FPSO will be used in Bohai Penglai 19-3 oil field in the near future.
The vice president of CPPCC and the dean of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Xu Kuangdi, secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Xi Jinping, mayor Han Zheng, the vice minister of Ministry of Education Wu Qidi, and the president of CSSC Chen Xiaojin attended the naming ceremony.
The hull of this 300,000ton FPSO was designed by CSSC with double bottom and double shell structure. The overall length is 323meters and the breadth is 63meters, equivalent to the total area of 3 standard football fields. It is 32.5meters deep, overall 71meters high from the bottom of vessel to the chimney, the same as the height of a 24-floor building. The load draught is 20.8meters, daily processing capacity of 190,000 barrels of crude oil, storage capacity of 2million barrels, supplemented with a helicopter flat, and capable of 140 people working and living on the vessel at the same time.
